Have you ever thought about how many people there are in the world? According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 6,969,420,528 people (that’s 6 billion for those of you who struggle with numbers ;] ) walking the earth today with a heart that beats and lungs that breathe….

Documentary on the ideas of Hernando De Soto (An author and an economist) in reference too capitalism, and the factors keeping developing countries from prosperity. This is very inspiring and I encourage whoever see’s this too watch it. It’s a whole new perspective on capitalism.

My name's Kristen, I'm 16 years of age, and I live in Florida. The purpose of this blog is to not only enlighten people about poverty and hunger around the world, but to try to help, and possibly motivate people to take action against this problem.

We see commercials on t.v about the problem, occasionally we'll hear about it, but most of us shoulder it off. Why? Simply because it's not directly affecting us. We are all guilty of not caring about something because of the simple fact that we don't have to deal with it. I'd like you to put yourself in these peoples shoes. Imagine a life where you are in poverty, have limited opportunity, and cannot do anything about it. It is not the fact that these people are lazy, or any other label you would like to put on it, but because of where they were born. Make the comparison, here, most aren't even close to having bad conditions, even our lower class, while in Africa/Asia/South America/Latin America the poverty is profound and striking a massive portion of the people. This is due to the leaders governing the people and etc.

To address this issue, we need to stand together and help. Nothing can be accomplished until someone steps forward and sympathizes with others. It is 2011 and It's time for poor country's to become prosperous as well. No one deserves to be under a dictatorship or be in an area where nothing can be done. If you would like to discuss this idea with me ask me for my information.

Reason I'm putting the link here, is for YOU to decide. I'm not going to tell you where you should spend your money, But instead show you the statistics, and maybe some resources.

Main reason for this tumblr is too much others aware of this major problem, and meet others who are also interested in helping to solve this. I would like to start a non-profit for poverty as well, and do something major too help this, but sadly, I can't do it alone.
